Attention all NYOCB members: Please keep in mind the following dates and updates: There will be NYOCB rehearsals this Saturday, 28th June starting at 2 p.m. Those who performed in the Chords and Voices showcase at the Bliss and have still not yet received their stipend, please see Mr. Young. Due to circumstances beyond their control, the St. Augustine Chamber Orchestra (SACO) from Trinidad has had to cancel their trip in August. Nevertheless, the team from MUSAID will be here from the 18-28th of August and will be giving classes especially to those members of the NYO who have demonstrated a consistent commitment to the group. We will be having a concert to close the workshops that they will be giving. The date is the 27th of August at the Bliss. Time to be announced. Orchestra members have been given two new pieces to work on in the coming weeks: Tchaikovskys 1812 Overture, and his Romeo and Juliet. We will continue to work on the Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings and Miami. Furthermore, in order to help prepare students for this concert even before the MUSAID team arrives, we are planning to organize some classes with the two Mexican instructors, Dante Montes and Ixchel Vasco, who both currently teach with Ensemble Harmony in the Corozal District. We are trying to arrange for them to come to the city on Fridays or Saturdays in July. As soon as these plans are finalized we will let you know.
