Attention educators- Upcoming Educator Summer Institute on June 16th! Holocaust Studies for Educators is a graduate level course to equip middle and high school teachers with the tools and techniques to effectively teach the Holocaust and its lessons. This year the course will explore such topics as resistance, ghetto life, the experiences of Jewish and non-Jewish victims, Vichy France, the Nuremberg Trials and the struggle for Raphael Lemkin to create the term, “Genocide.” Time: June 16-June 20, 2014 8:30am-4:30pm Location: The Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education, 8401 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH Application Deadline: May 30th, 2014 The course format includes: • Presentations by experts on Holocaust and genocide education, tolerance education, and religious studies. •Opportunities for educators to collaborate and share creative and exciting resources. •Engaging dialogue with survivors and other eyewitnesses of the Holocaust. •Course content which is applicable to Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana academic content standards as well as Common Core Standards. •Participants receive Echoes and Reflections, a multimedia curriculum, and many other interdisciplinary and classroom-ready resources. The course may be taken as a workshop (providing 34 contact hours) for $100. To receive two (2) hours of graduate credit through Xavier University, CHHE offers a subsidized rate of $400.
