Attention please. Bondage Alert. The 7th day Sabbath celebration of the Old Covenant, does not transfer to Sunday. Sunday is not our New Testament day of rest. The Old Testament Seventh Day Sabbath is UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY FULFILLED IN CHRIST! We are not under a command to observe a Sabbath as followers of Christ. Our Sabbath Rest IS our UNION WITH CHRIST. We observe whenever we consciously draw near enter the Most Holy Place! (please read Hebrews - all of it - especially chapters 3 and 4) We have access to the 7th Day every day, 24/7. 1st Century believers began to gather on the 1st Day of the week (Sunday) - because that is DAY Jesus rose from the grave - this was not an invention of the church - it was an impulse of joy and love for Jesus. We gather on Sunday, just as the early Church began to do, on the first day of the week (see Acts 20 and Rev. 1:10) to Celebrate the Resurrection - every Sunday - not just on Easter Sunday. Obligation is no longer our motivation. Love is our motivation. So, we come to fellowship and break bread because we Love Jesus and we Love His people.
