Attention sports fans: for only $9.99 a game, $19.99 a month, $49.99 a season or even better $89.99 a year you can contribute to the AIA by watching your team play in the playoffs. If you dont think that the AIA has not found the answer to getting us to pay ten dollars to watch a game that we could not have attended because they have made it too hard to travel to. Here is the answer. FYI the President of the AIA is Dr. Harold Slemmer. On top of his duties as the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s executive director, Dr. Slemmer also will serve as the president of the National Federation of State High School Associations for the upcoming school year. This is the federation that streams these games. Wouldnt you think that being the President of this huge organization was enough. Now he wears two hats. I would drive to Phx Friday to watch Volleyball. I could be essentially be back for things I have to do on Saturday. I will not drive to Tims Toyotas Money Center though. Its too far and not economical at all. Nobody to stay with and hotels that mark up prices this time of year because of volleyball coming to town. Three games in a weekend to win a championship I think is a great accomplishment, but it is a lot. The complaint. The AIA said they do not have facilities or refs to hold games at the higher seeds the week before so they cram it all into one weekend. They say its easier to get them to spend the weekend in Prescott at Tims Toyota Money Center than to travel. First they take away a home playoff game and make you travel to a remote location to fill a huge arena at ten dollars a person. Then they hang this carrot of getting to watch the game in front of you. I think its great to get watch the game dont get me wrong. My problem is that I guarantee that the AIA does not lose any money this weekend. Between revenue from the streaming of games, admission, money from Tims Money center for concession money kickbacks and booths in the lobby we find another example of the AIA not getting it or getting it right. Did I mention I am not a big fan of Tims Toyota Money Center.
