Attention to all keyboard warriors and self appointed aviation experts; Facts about #MH17 flight route: 1.Ukrainian officials confirmed this week setting the height of their no-fly zone over conflict-torn eastern Ukraine to 32,000 feet.Each country can issue such notices as they wish and arent required to justify them. 2. #MH17 was flying around 33,000 feet over the restricted airspace before it crashed. 3.Data from airline tracker Flightradar24 shows other commercial flights in the area at the time of the crash. A Singapore Airlines flight and an Air India flight were around 24 km (15 miles) away, according to the data. 4. The same route is being used by other Airlines such as Lufthansa, Air India, Virgin Atlantic, Turkish Airline, Air France and few more. 5.The FAA had barred US airlines from flying over southern areas of Ukraine in a notice issued April 3, after Russia annexed the region of Crimea. That notice didnt cover the area where the Malaysian plane crashed. 6.Prior to this, there have been about 100 flights a day that flew over the region 7.The European Cockpit Association, a pilot group, said that the Malaysian planes path was the most common route for flights from Europe to South East Asia. 8.There has never been an airliner shot down from a surface-to-air missile at this kind of altitude.The threat has always been a shoulder-fired missile from insurgents,which typically cant surpass 15,000 feet.
