Attn: all my teacher peeps something to think about. Thank you for taking the time to recognize a New York City teacher through a nomination for the 2013 or 2014 Big Apple Awards. We are excited to share that nominations are now being accepted for the third annual Big Apple Awards! We encourage you to again nominate any outstanding teachers that you know and help us spread the word! Last year we received more than 3,100 nominations citywide and we’re eager to continue building upon that; this year, we hope to see at least one teacher nominated from each of the over 1,700 NYCDOE schools. Nominations for the 2015 awards are being accepted through Monday, January 19, 2015. Who is eligible for the Big Apple Awards? · All full-time public school teachers at New York City district and charter schools; teachers who inspire students, demonstrate exceptional instructional practice, and display outstanding leadership in and out of the classroom with colleagues and their school community · Everyone is welcome to make a nomination – we encourage students and their families, teachers, school staff, school leaders, and community members to thank the teachers who do exceptional work every day on behalf of our students with a nomination. · To make a nomination visit schools.nyc.gov/bigappleawards. Nominations are being accepted through Monday, January 19, 2015. Big Apple Award recipients will spend the 2015-16 school year representing teachers citywide as members of the Chancellor’s Advisory Group while continuing to teach at their schools. Recipients will also receive a classroom grant for their students and school. More information on how to nominate a teacher can be found by visiting the Big Apple Awards website If you have any questions about the awards or the nomination process, please email us at [email protected]. This year’s Big Apple Awards represent another opportunity to celebrate our diverse range of great teachers who are setting the foundation for the next generation of New York City and engage in a citywide dialogue about what excellent teaching looks like. Thank you for recognizing New York City’s outstanding educators in 2015! Sincerely, The Big Apple Awards Program Team
