Attorney General Pam Bondi states in court documents, Floridas marriage laws, have a close, direct, and rational relationship to societys legitimate interest in increasing the likelihood that children will be born to and raised by the mothers and fathers who produced them in stable and enduring family units,. With strong words like that, youd think shed be spending her energy on the fact that over 45% of the children born in Florida last year were to unwed mothers (according to state documents); many of whom, in his highly Republican state, are on the dole, and regularly vote for politicians who are aligned directly against their best interests. How can politicians like this expect to use that argument (connecting gay marriage to be the enemy of two-parent homes) when the statistics clearly show that her state has a huge issue with babies without intact families. I guess what she is saying is that if the gays can marry, even more women will have unwed babies - because that seems like a logical cause and effect right?
