Auction Plus Market Report. There was an increase in numbers across both species this week, with sheep and lambs up 7,000 to 49,729 head, including one feature store sale, and cattle numbers jumped by over 2,500 to total 6,778 head. Plenty of steers on offer over 300kg this week sparked interest from both restockers and feedlotters. Angus steers 300kg-350kg sold from 179c to 201c, to average 193c; other steers in this weight range averaged 176c. The top steer price of the day was $780 or 199c for 393kg Millah Murrah blood Angus steers out of Moree, while the lighter draft at 342kg made 193c. 250kg-300kg steers sold from 175c to 209c, averaging 191c, with restocker heifers in this range trailing by around 40c. Cow and calf prices powered ahead again, with most of the younger offerings easily surpassing the $1000 mark. The top price was $1420 for Gilmandyke blood Angus two year olds out of Cudal, selling as a 3 in 1 unit, while other young Angus cows with calves started from $1100. Older black cow and calf units made from $800 to $1300, and in central NSW eight ear old Hereford cows with Angus cross calves sold for $800.
