Audelco Award nominee, cultural architect and editor Charles Reese is moving around fast from New York City to Paris to London spreading the word of Baldwin around the globe!. Charles Reese is native of Washington, DC and a graduate of Morehouse College who now resides in Los Angeles, CA. He is a professional working performance artist, educator, and consultant in television, independent film, micro web series and theatre. Reese is currently a series regular on the hit comedy web series, WHO (available only on ajakwetv). He is best known in the theatre community for his critically acclaimed off-Broadway performance in the title role of James Baldwin: A Soul on Fire. David DeWitt of The New York Times declares, “A Soul on Fire is funny, thrilling and wise buoyed by the passionate performance of Charles Reese in the lead role.” Reese is the official USA affiliate for The Collectif James Baldwin in Paris, France. James Baldwin: A Soul On Fire, written by the late playwright Howard B. Simon (1962-2000), marks Reese’s first editorial/publishing endeavor for the HB Simon Literary Canon, in association with Azaan Kamau/Glover Lane Press. Reese served as a special guest panelist at the 42nd annual Congressional Black Caucus Authors Pavilion 2012 in Washington, DC. He has presented his highly popular James Baldwin Book Salon Reading Series for the DC Commission for the Arts & Humanities (Washington, DC); Mayme Clayton Library & Museum with Emmy Award Nominee, CCH Pounder (Culver City, CA); Playa Vista Branch Library (Los Angeles, CA); James Washington House & Studio (Seattle, WA); The Enoch Pratt.
