Audi Active Dampers As the magnetic field increases the oil flow is restricted, increasing the stiffness of that particular suspension unit. The magnetic field is proportional to current flow in the damper coil. The amount of current flowing in the coil circuit will be controlled by the Active Suspension ECU. The driver can have some control, selecting normal or sport mode. Normal Mode = No current flow in the coil Sport Mode = high current flow and therefore a high magnetic field, stiffening the suspension. Remember each unit can be adjusted by the ECU while cornering. Note: Active suspension can form part of the ESP (electronic Stability Programme) stepping in to help the driver maintain control of the car before the they realize there is a risk of loosing control.
