Audio-visual (AV) Specialist About the job: The CSIRs ICT Service Centre has a vacancy for an Audio-visual (AV) Specialist. The incumbent will deliver specialist support and an advisory service to ensure the smooth running of events hosted in all CSIR video-conferencing facilities on the Pretoria campus and at regional sites. Key responsibilities: Provide specialist support and management of the video-conferencing service for the entire CSIR (except ICC). Participate in and provide technical advice in AV-related projects in the organization. Perform desktop configuration and repairs according to agreed standards and practices to ensure seamlessness in AV and ICT services. Ensure that architectural designs and configuration of all video-conferencing infrastructure is managed and maintained. Assist in desktop applications queries and 2nd line resolutions of same according to agreed service levels. Establish and maintain good relations with AV-related suppliers and partners for products and services. Manage resolution of incidents; escalate logged incidents / events from technical support to upper tier support and to management. Communicate with clients and staff, including staff in the regional offices, to provide advice regarding audio-visual equipment and support. Perform adequate technical evaluation of any audio-visual equipment required by any CSIR unit in conducting their business prior to procurement of such equipment. Qualifications, skills and experience: Tertiary qualification in ICT, sound engineering or equivalent audio-visual certification; Two to three years’ experience in the AV field or in desktop support, also working technical knowledge of Endpoint devices. Sound technical knowledge of equipment used to support live events of a conference nature together with sound knowledge of the AV and ICT industries; Good technical aptitude and a willingness to embrace new technologies; Good inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate well with people at all levels; Customer-service orientation; Ability to work well under pressure; Ability to engage with industry suppliers at a high technical level.
