Auditions for Proof Director Deb Pollock says if you fear math, - TopicsExpress

Auditions for Proof Director Deb Pollock says if you fear math, fear not, Proof will not make you relive your high-school calculus nightmares. Three of the four characters in the play are mathematicians, but it is a sensitive, elegant play that shows how regular people interact with math. As one person who knows the play suggested, it is a “math play” in the same way that The Big Bang Theory is a “science show.” You get the picture? Even math geniuses can lead interesting lives and we need no further proof of that (see what we did there?) than The Imitation Game, a movie earning excellent reviews and getting big crowds across North America. Proof is about genius, as it affects Robert, a widower and famous mathematician. His daughter Catherine, who may also be a genius, stayed at home to care for her Dad, who became mentally ill. Its about those who aspire to genius, like Hal, one of Roberts students, who is good, even very good, but not great. And its about love, parental, filial and romantic. When it comes to love, genius isnt a whole lot of help. Auditions for Proof will be held this weekend (Jan. 25-26) in Gratwick Hall at The Pond Playhouse. For more details, please see this link.
