August 27, 2014 Working Together Doing the Father’s Will We need to ask ourselves if knowing and doing the will of the Father is the ultimate goal of our lives? If it is, then we must do everything in our power to see His will done in our lives and the world. As we pray about what we’ll do in our service for Him we need Him to not only show us His will, but enable us to obey. As we pray about His will for our lives in regard to reaching a lost world, we need to pray again that we would do the will of God and seek out the individuals who need Christ and share the Gospel. Romans 8:28-29 say, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” So, we as believers need not faint in our times of trials, struggles, suffering and hardship because God is at work in the world (v 28), and He has a perfect plan (v 29). God has 2 PURPOSES in that plan: OUR GOOD and HIS GLORY. Ultimately He will make us like Jesus! Best of all, God’s plan will succeed! It started in eternity pass as Ephesians 1:4-5 say that He chose us in Christ unto salvation. So, He’s predetermined in His heart that one day we’ll be His and doing His will. Predestination applies only to saved people. The truth is, as Christ died for the world, God predetermined all to be saved. Nowhere, do we find that God has predestined people to be eternally condemned. If one is condemned it is because they have rejected and have refused to put their trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord. John 3:18-21 say, “He that believes on Him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” God sends no one to hell, He wants all to be saved. As, John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” When we responded to His call, He justified us and He will also be glorified in us. This means that we as believers have already been glorified in Christ. John 17:22 says, “And the glory which You gave Me I have given them; that they may be one, even as We are One.” The revelation of this glory awaits the coming of the Lord (Rom. 8:21-23 says, “Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”) So, what is it that you need or want Him to do in your life? Will you surrender to Him so that His Spirit can accomplish His will in your life? So, we might ask what is God’s will for our lives? While it is true no one can tell us completely, but we can know in general. It is God’s will that we be SAVED. It is God’s will that we be SANCTIFIED (set apart from sin and set apart for the Savior). It’s God’s will we be SURRENDERED. It is God’s will that we SERVE Him. It is God’s will that we SHARE/PARTNER with Him in reaching those who do not know Jesus as their Savior. So, let’s get with it!
