August 30, 2014 Renvek had fun this summer camping for the first time since his diagnosis. His candid comment almost captured the trip Hey Sharon, we put marshmallows on a stick and put it in the fire until it tasted good then we ate it. Sharon, Mike and their son Jared were along for the trip, most of the time Renvek spent having fun with Jared. The pictures are some of the images mom and I captured along the way. On the medical side; the oncology team at Providence took his HAMA blood test and sent it off to New York for processing. While they took the sample early in the morning it ended up not arriving before the lab could complete the testing on Tuesday, which is the only day of the week they do the test for it. On the positive side they can still complete the test next Tuesday so we will have results next week and will know soon after if we are ready to go back to New York. If the test still shows he is positive we will return to a maintenance dose of oral chemo followed by high dose Vitamin A for another 54 days. They will retest at that point, if it is negative they will be scheduling us for New York to spend 4 months going back and forth to New York on a 1 week in New York returning to Alaska for 3. Also on the positive side it sounds like the Big M was a success and while I havent received official numbers it looks like I will not be needing donated mileage tickets. Thank you to all who participated to make that a success. Switching to other significant news for Renvek, I met with the Make-a-Wish foundation volunteers regarding Renveks wish. The preliminary wish is to go to Disney World in Orlando, Florida and meet as many of the Pixar Characters as we can. They are also working on a day to get over to see the Dragons from How to Train your Dragon. At this point I think Renvek will have the time of his life there. We have not committed to a firm schedule for that as we are awaiting the results of the test to come out so we know what schedule we will have to accommodate on the wish trip.
