August 4th 2013 A Dark New Dawn Part One – Empire Lost By Liam Marc Berry Page 1 (of 9) 1. Large shot. We are looking at a futuristic skyline of a London four hundred years from now. Among traditional landmarks we can see today we see larger newer structures dwarfing them. The world seems tranquil and perfect. Text Earth, 400 years from now. A world of peace and wonder built on the efforts of a race wishing to better themselves. For hundreds of years the workers of this new empire toiled to create beacons of light in the dark of space. The most prominent of these was known as Terra Prima… Earth. 2. Large shot. The city is being half destroyed by hundreds of small flying meteors falling from the sky as large rough and mechanical looking spaceships that look almost industrial in make are appearing through the clouds. They are the Horded. Text But eventually the workers expelled to the far reaches of the universe grew to resent their slave like existence to improve the lives of others. Eventually they came home. Page 2 (of 9) 1. Medium shot. We see what looks like a repurposed mining vessel that has become a drop ship with moving components on show on the rear of the ship. Most of the ship is partially rusted metal and chipped yellow paint in specific areas. It is flying between buildings over the crumbling burning streets filled with screaming people trying to flee around burning vehicles. 2. Medium shot. We are now looking at more civilians running away from men in converted mining gear with the same colours as the drop ships. They are carrying old attack rifles, mining axes and rusted blades that are either slaughtering civilians or zip lining down from the ships. In the middle of the panel is a young woman tripping over as a horded soldier is coming up behind her with a two handed axe to strike. Woman (screaming) Help me!!! 3. Medium shot. The woman looks up from the ground screaming as the horded soldier is about to kill her. Horded (screaming) Die for the greed!!! 4. Medium shot. A police officer in a futuristic but standard looking body armour with a black bulky side arm as suddenly appeared and is shooting the soldier through the head as the young woman move to get away. Police Officer (shouting) Move for Christ sake, move!!! Page 3 (of 9) 1. Large shot. We are now looking at a massive white dome surrounded by the buildings of the city with minor surface damage from the meteor strikes. In the air is a battle between the Horded and the local military with the large ships at a higher altitude above them. There are more signs of battle and carnage in the streets below. This is the royal palace. 2. Medium shot. High above we see a large mass of Horded soldiers overtaking defences of the palace and slaughtering the defenders. 3. Medium shot. The large number of Horded soldiers is now massing outside of the front armoured door with is being heavily damaged by a large brutal looking battering ram. Horded Soldier (screaming) Break it down!!! Page 4 (of 9) 1. Medium shot. Inside the crumbling front entrance we see a makeshift barricade being formed with crates, furniture by armed soldiers with a clear officer giving orders to them. Officer (shouting) You men get in there and defend the emperor with your lives, give him time to escape! 2. Medium shot. Half of the defending soldiers are being sent beyond a large slowly closing blast door leading to the throne room. Officer (shouting) God be with you all! 3. Medium shot. The remaining soldiers are left looking at the now nearly breached door as significant damage appearing from the other side. Soldier (shouting) Sir they are almost through! Officer (shouting) Positions people!!! 4. Medium shot. The door has now blown open with the Horded charging in in a rage as they run into the fire from the defenders weapon that are cutting them down. Officer (shouting) Mow the bastards down!!! Page 5 (of 9) 1. Medium shot. We are now inside a large round white room with the floor being stepped from the main entrance up to a grand looking throne with roughly two dozen soldiers and an eight foot mecha standing between the door and a young man in royal attire currently sat on the throne, He is Emperor Franz. Franz (worried) Where are my family!? My mother and sister!? 2. Medium shot. An older soldier called Teller is now talking to a reluctant Franz who is sat on the throne refusing to move. Teller (firm) Sire there is no way to get them here, this enemy are everywhere. I cannot even tell you if they still live! We must leave now, the drop ship is moments away! Franz (angry) NO! I refuse to leave without them! I am the emperor and you must obey my every command and I sat stay. I bet the palace defenders are doing a sufficient job defending anyway! 3. Medium shot. Outside the blast door we see that all of the soldiers defending the front door are all dead with the slain officer prominent and the Horded swarming in the palace. 4. Medium shot. Teller with pistol in hand is now dragging Franz against his will and with little effort towards a secret elevator behind the throne with two of the soldiers accompanying them. Franz (shocked) How dare you! I command you to stop! Your duty is to me!!! Teller (annoyed) No its to protecting you… get used to that. Page 6 (of 9) 1. Medium shot. The door into the throne room has suddenly exploded sending debris flying in all directions as a shocked teller points towards it and screams. Teller (shouting) Hold them back and give us time!!! 2. Medium shot. The Horded soldiers are engaging the palace defenders in a large brutal battle with the mecha trying to cut down the men coming in the door. 3. Medium shot. Teller and the soldiers are pushing the young emperor into the lift as they all depart the room. Teller (panic) Quickly get in!!! 4. Medium shot. Horded soldiers covered in blood have just missed the lift as the wall is just about completely closed, their hands leaving bloody hand print and smudges on the clean white wall. Horded Soldier (frustrated) Damn!!! Page 7 (of 9) 1. Large shot. The four are now leaving the lift on a Launchpad on the top of the dome where the wind is blowing hard. From the top we can see complete chaos as the city almost in complete ruin with destroyed and burning builds more common than those intact, huge battles being fought by large forces in the distance and an increasing air battle between the defender of the empire and the Horded with their ships engaging and destroying a few imperial vessel s that have turned up. The sky is no longer blue but a glowing burnt red with growing clouds of black smoke. Soldier (shocked) Jesus!!! 2. Medium shot. Teller is point and dragging Franz towards an incoming imperial drop ship with the two soldiers not far behind. Teller (shouting) There it is, everybody get on! 3. Close up shot. Teller is talking to Franz as they board the drop ship, Franz is upset and leaving and Teller is reassuring him it’s the right thing to do. Franz (upset) Not without my family!!! Teller (remorse) Sorry sire but my duty is you alone. 4. Medium shot. The drop ship is flying straight up at an advance speed leaving the burning city behind where we get a better look at the carnage going on. Page 8 (of 9) 1. Medium shot. Walking in the throne room with all of its defenders dead and the mecha at the side of the room is half destroyed and its pilot hanging out the main hatch murdered is a clear leader of the Horded force with his bulkier armour and a long black cape and his helmet in his hand. The other horded are saluting him with a bow and a clenched fist on their chests. 2. Medium shot. He is now stood in front of the throne smirking at the victory. Horded Lord (amused) The great empire’s throne world fell in just hours… weak. 3. Medium shot. The lord is now sat in the throne with the horded are now bowing to him in a sign of great respect. Horded Lord (amused) The world is ours… shame we are not keeping it. 4. Medium shot. Still sat in the throne the lord now looks sober as he talks into a small communicator device in his hand. Horded Lord) Initiate the plan… send the message to the rest. Page 9 (of 9) 1. Large shot. The large space craft in the sky are erupting in massive explosions with a flash of white at the middle that is utterly destroying the city. 2. Large shot. From orbit we see most of the atmosphere of the planet erupting in fire as the centre of the empire is being destroyed. We also see a space battle between Horded space forces defending a departing military ship heading towards us. Text The End
