August 8, 2014: Well, I promised everyone 0.50-1.00 of rain from this system. Some of you are still waiting to reach the 0.50 mark. Some rainfall totals Cape Girardeau 1.52 Poplar Bluff 0.20 Sikeston 1.50 Olmstead Lock and Dam 2 Carbondale 0.67 Murphysboro, IL 1.00 Marion, IL - 1+ Cairo, IL 0.86 1 mile NW of Metropolis 0.96 Pickneyville, IL 2-3 Mt Vernon, IL 2.93 My place here in Massac County 0.30 Paducah, Kentucky 0.95 Kevil, KY 0.85 Evansville 0.70-1.00 Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible into the afternoon and evening hours. Some of you will pick up additional rainfall. Unfortunately, there is a decent size pocket around the Land Between the Lakes that have received very little rainfall. This could be because of the ongoing drought conditions. Sometimes we see drought feeding drought. Not sure if this is the reason or not. Hopefully some of you who have not received rainfall will see some today. A little concerned about those areas that have picked up very little over the past 24-48 hours.
