August 9, 2014 An often overlooked aspect of the current border crisis is the rise in illegal border crossings by cartel criminals and gang members. This goes mostly unreported because it doesn’t fit the media narrative of only innocent toddlers crossing the border. But the criminals from cartels and gangs are coming across, and increasingly doing their worst throughout the border states, attacking innocent civilians and law enforcement officials, including Border Patrol agents. An even less talked about aspect is the fact that corrupt Mexican military units are working with the cartels and gangs, even going so far as to cross the border themselves and fire on US citizens and law enforcement.
