August Library Corner AUGUST LIBRARY CORNER Just a couple of weeks until school bells ring again, but there is still time to enjoy our Florida beaches or perhaps a trip to the cooler mountains. The end of summer is a good time to spend a few quiet hours with a favorite book. You will find many wonderful works in our church library including Bible stories and studies, self-help books, enjoyable light Christian novels, daily spiritual guides and books of prayer. This is an older but extremely interesting UMW Reading Program selection. 100 SIMPLE THINGS YOU CAN DO TO PREVENT ALZHEIMER’S by Jean Carper Most people think there is little to do to avoid Alzheimer’s. Learn how medical journalist Jean Carper discovered 100 surprisingly simple, scientifically tested ways to reduce the odds of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Did you know that vitamin B12 helps keep your brain from shrinking or that surfing the internet strengthens aging brain cells. Perhaps reading books, magazines, newpapers, etc. also helps. This definitely is a 2014 UMW Reading Program selection. JOEY AN INSPIRING TRUE STORY OF FAITH by Joseph Girzone This is a true story about a rare and beautiful love between a young boy (Girzone’s own godson) and God. It is a work that will give hope to the young and comfort to parents who fearfully watch as their children enter the unknown world of life’s adventure. A good read as we approach a new school year.
