August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month! World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated from August 1-7, 2014, however, in Santa Clara County the celebration will be continued throughout the entire month of August. On August 5, 2014, the Board of Supervisors will proclaim August Breastfeeding Awareness Month in Santa Clara County. This year’s theme is Breastfeeding: A Winning Goal for Life! The theme relates to the role of breastfeeding in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). 2014 is also the year of the World Cup, and breastfeeding provides good health and nutrition, which are important for sports.
