August is a month that is always hard for me. My Moms birthday is August 26th and one of my best friends from High School died on Aug 1st. This article just really gets me. I am in the service business and I have lived through a waitress salary...I think this is why I am a born go-getter. My Mom was too. My Mom made $2.13 per hour up until the day she died (8 years ago). When people would tip poorly she would go negative. I remember when she would get her pay check, because she made so little per hour, when they deducted the health insurance and taxes her check would be negative. She would have to PAY HR! She worked so hard and took every shift possible to make ends meet. I wish I had more time with her, but I knew she had to work. It was for us that she did it. And you know what, she was the best Mom EVER! To all those working Moms out there...and for those Dads that work two jobs,dont ever let ANYONE tell you youre a bad Mom/Dad. And please think about the tip as their actual salary... because it is.
