Augusta Margaret River Shire tonight voted unanimously to raise rates by four per cent. With infrastructure projects such as Surfers Point placing a major strain on the shires reserves, council says the rise is necessary to keep the shire viable into the future. The rise is one per cent above inflation, but councillors say they need to make strong decisions for the whole community - even if unpopular. Do you agree?
