Augusts #FocusT25 #ChallengeGroup kicked off Week 4 yesterday! Todays workout was #TotalBodyCircuit! I am so excited and proud of what the group has accomplished so far! =) So, I shared this video collage with my group... I was excited to be able to do the jump #squats! Ive had to modify the past couple weeks because of my knees. Today... my knees felt awesome, and I could do the jump squats! Win! The main reason why I shared the video collage with my group is to show that modifications are okay! The bottom right of the video shows my modification of the shoulder tap with tricep push ups on my knees. The exercise calls for a shoulder tap with a standard push up on your toes. I also shared this because... 1) #Modifications are acceptable! We all start somewhere! You might as well start with proper form and build up from there! 2) Modifications help strengthen you and help prep you for the standard version of the exercise! You are better off doing a modification with proper form than a standard version with poor form (you will risk injury with poor form)! 3) Once you have the modification down, you can start adding standard forms of the exercise as your last several reps... and keep on adding reps the more you do the exercise! The next thing you know... voila! You are doing standard versions of the exercises! Now, keep in mind... this isnt instantaneous. It takes time! Be patient! I am finally able to do some tricep push ups on my toes from doing tricep push ups modified (on my knees) in other workouts. I chose not to do tricep push ups on my toes this time around because I could feel that my body would not have kept proper form. And, like I tried to emphasize earlier, proper form is important when working out! Take the time to do it right the first time! Take the time to help your body learn proper form of the exercise! Just take the time! Strive for progress - not perfection! Any modifications that you would like to share?! Or are there any exercises that you used to modify that you no longer have to modify?! #CrushYourLimits #GetYourSweatOn
