The selected candidate will execute the design of assigned projects, such as publications, presentations, posters, banners, brochures and other materials, both print and electronic, with creativity and adherence to the established quality and design guidelines, within the required production timeline and within client budget limitations. The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, known by its Spanish acronym, CIMMYT®, is a not-for-profit agricultural research for development organization with partners in over 100 countries. Please refer to our website for more information: cimmyt.org The position reports to the Creative Services Manager, and is based at CIMMYT’s campus in Texcoco, Mexico, located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico. The job may involve some travel both within Mexico and in collaborating countries. Specific duties: Design, plan, select and organize visual elements to create materials intended to communicate specific messages that are functional, creative and innovative, according to priorities set by the manager and/or client; Research and analyze design software and artwork, helping the execution of the assigned projects; Design and assist in the production of printed and electronic publications; Design artwork for brochures, posters, displays, folders, flyers, certificates, brochures, invitations, etc.; Design logos and images as well as event and conference icons for meetings which CIMMYT sponsors or attends; Prepare job specifications and acquire printing quotes, and verify that the printing process is the right choice for the project; Create illustrations such as pictures, graphs, charts, maps and drawings for scientific articles and publications; Design PowerPoint presentations for scientists; Demonstrate the ability to think strategically (understanding of the target audience and the project’s main marketing message) in the design and production of a creative project; Carry out other activities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
