Auria-Honey Santiago-Natal just commented that she still has her Sunset Park mug from 25 years ago...she didnt just win one, she got one when they were brand new! Well, she had an inside connection - her husband Dan was president of Sunset Park Restoration. Here is a photo of Dan on an urban archaeological dig in Sunset Park - sponsored by Sunset Park Restoration (the artifacts that we found we packed into a teaching kit and and loaned to schools with lesson plans). And to show that Dan also looked good in a tux - here is is at a $250 a plate dinner at the Waldorf Astoria getting the Oscar of community work from the Mayor of NYC. The affair was hosted by Barbara Walters. By the way - a correction for a recent newspaper article - I was not a founder of Sunset Park Restoration - that was Robert & Alice Walsh. And I was not a noted preservationist. I have always been a radical and an activist....lol When I became the head of Restoration, more than a preservationist group, it was the communitys largest Gay & Lesbian organization (yep, Im sure that has confused you...lol)
