Austerity means doing whatever you can to strip away human dignity and give rise to a new age of serfdom. It has never worked and will never work but is still seen as the only thing to do in response to economic crisis ( usually created by the people who preach austerity ). The only winners are the filthy rich and their lackeys, hence the cheer leading of this obscene concept in the main stream media ( who print what their masters want printed. Most news sources are no better than Pravda was during the Soviet Russian era ).
