Australian Ambassador Visits Yap COLONIA, Yap (Media Division/YapStateGov News) — His Excellency Terence Beven, Ambassador of Australia to the Federated States of Micronesia, and his delegation arrived in Yap on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. The Ambassador is accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Kim Beven, and the Embassy’s Third Secretary, Nikola Pejic. This will be his first visit to the State of Yap since assuming his post as the new Australian Ambassador to Micronesia on January 17, 2014. Ambassador Beven is also cross accredited to the Republics of the Marshall Islands and Palau, and is also Consul-General to the United States’ Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Territory of Guam. In his diplomatic mission to the State of Yap, Ambassador Beven began his courtesy visits early Wednesday morning with The Honorable Governor Sebastian L. Anefal, The Honorable Speaker Henry Falan, The Honorable Chief Justice Cyprian Manmaw, The Honorable Chairman of the Council of Pilung, Chief Bruno Tharngan, and The Honorable Chairman of the Council of Tamol, Chief Ignathio Hapthey. Ambassador Beven and his delegation also took the time to meet with other Cabinet members throughout the day, including Director of Resources and Development Frank Haregaichig and Director of Planning and Budget Ray Igechep. The Ambassador further requested to pay courtesy calls on The Honorables Isaac Figir and Joseph Urusemal of the Yap Congressional Delegation during his visit to Yap, as well as meet with other entities—namely, the Yap Women’s Interest Office, Yap Catholic High School, Yap State Correction Facility, and the Yap Sports Council and other sports associations, namely Paddlers and Swimmers. He further requested to visit a privately owned Clam Project in Malay, Kanifay Municipality, through John Guswel, and will also spend some time with the Historical Preservation Office and Yap Visitors Bureau to familiarize himself with the Yap Living History Museum, and Mr. Larry Raigetal at the Wa’agey Society Canoe house. The Ambassador will continue his visits in Yap throughout the week before continuing on his trip to the Republic of Palau over the weekend.
