I think, until we recognize the earth and her ecosystems as a living homeostatic entity and afford her the same rights that we bestow a cat or dog or intangible god, or even an artificial person we call a corporation, I dont think weve got any hope of balancing the damage over creation we so lawfully inflict upon her. We have these world trade agreements that legally lock us in to overconsumption and raping the planet, so the legal systems got to shift. And until weve evolved enough to appreciate the rights of the earth, and our role as humans within nature, I dont think well ever appreciate the rights of every humans equal place within the ecosystem of our civilization. I really believe a new wisdom, philosophy, spirituality if you will, a world indigenous culture is going to evolve from this unsustainable modernity.
