Australian wildlife is amongst the most diverse and distinct in the world. See a photo of a Koala and you automatically think of Australia. So what would you say to the fact that Koala numbers are dwindling day by day? You would be horrified of course (as you should be) but some people just dont seem to care at all! They drive too fast through their precious habitat, needlessly killing them, allow pet dogs to kill them, cut down their trees in order to build their houses, construct quarries in their homes, clear fell land for development, allow bushfires to rage through their homes unabated, poison trees because they happen to be blocking a view and some people even lay 1080 poison in places that can affect them. All of this does harm to the population but nothing does as much harm as the current governments stance on our National Parks, our forests, our green corridors and our backyards. Fell them all to make a few bucks, chip all of the trees to make some paper for them to print their propaganda on, close some parks so that no-one can see just what is going on whilst opening others up for major developments such as hotels, restaurants and adventure holiday makers; all in order to reduce the deficit by some paltry amount. I know that Koalas and their habitat means far more to me than a national debt, I know that any of Australias unique native animals ARE worth far more than a few billion in interest payments and I am damned sure that you do too.
