Australia’s assistance to Samoa for the upcoming UN SIDS Conference is in the form of high quality security equipment worth more than $1 million which was handed over yesterday afternoon. The ceremony took place at the new Police Logistic Support Centre, which was also designed and built with Australian assistance – and handed over yesterday from Australia to Samoa’s Police Service. Equipment handed over includes an extensive Closed Circuit Camera TV system, specialist vehicles, motorcycles, a response emergency vessel, walk through metal detectors, electronic message boards, traffic barricades, x-ray scanners, hand held metal detectors, ID badging system, radio equipment, portable lighting units and much more. This Centre and the security equipment will continue to serve the police service and the Samoan community for many years to come following the SIDS Conference.
