Austria tops the list in the EU for party membership figures. Nothing new and the reason is clear since there are historically big advantages accrueing from memberhip. But this is also declining and perks and patronage ops are not so plentiful as once before. Young people are more volatile in political affiliation and do not seek a job, or party for life. They are more open and flexible than before and judge elections on an ad hoc basis. What should parties do to engage such "mature" young voters? Act via social media, offer other incentives?
