Author : Jackson Mthembu ANC condemns the attack on Comrade Trevor Manuel by MKVA in the Western Cape 10 December 2010 The ANC condemns unreservedly the irresponsible attack on Comrade Trevor Manuel by the Western Cape structure of MKMVA. This irresponsible attack lacks the understanding and insight of the role of the ANC deployees in the province. The manner in which this matter has been raised smacks of indiscipline and is not consistent with the conduct befitting members of MKMVA. The deployees of the ANC are tasked with the responsibility of fostering and promoting unity in all provinces. As part of this process, they are expected to interact with various sections and structures of our members and supporters to distill what may result in future problems. Comrade Trevor Manuel has never been a factionalist and in fact he has reasoned above all the factions in the Western Cape. In all the roles that Trevor Manuel has played within and outside the party, he has done so with distinction. He has emerged as one of our trusted and disciplined members and a leader. The ANC has confidence in his role and leadership in terms of his deployment. If there were any concerns regarding any of the ANC NEC members and in particular Comrade Trevor, we expect that disciplined members of the organization would use existing channels to register their concerns and or complaints. This name calling and slender cannot resolve any problem but can undermine whatever effort that is in place to consolidate our unity and strength. The ANC calls on all its member to refrain from undermining internal processes and opting for channels particularly the media, that can only embarrass, undermine and bring the organization into disrepute.
