Author Vicki Cobb Visits Dows Lane Thanks to the PTSA Authors & Illustrators Committee, students at Dows Lane were recently treated to a visit from nonfiction children’s author Vicki Cobb. Ms. Cobb, who is a self-proclaimed perpetual 11-year –old, capitalizes on her youthful inquisitiveness by writing science-related books for young people. She has written over 85 such books already, and shows no signs of stopping! During her visit, she talked about her work as an author, but really wanted to share her excitement and enthusiasm for science and inquiry by demonstrating various scientific concepts in fun and exciting ways. In this photo, she is demonstrating Bernoullis Principle by unraveling a roll of toilet tissue with a leaf blower – you can imagine the cheers and laughter from the children (and teachers!) that erupted!
