Autumn in National park Gomilshansky Lissy. Green Video Music National Park Gomilshansky lissy Zmiiv district, Kharkiv region (Ukraine) National Park is situated in a picturesque corner of the left-bank Ukraine, in the floodplain of the rivers Severskiy Donets and Gomolsha. Its total area is 14138.8 hectares, including 3377.3 hectares which are constantly used by the Park. National Park Gomilshansky lissy was established by the decree of the President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma on the 6th of September, 2004. This event was preceded by several decades of struggle of scientists of mostly Karazin Kharkiv National University with foresters, hunters and corruptionists. During this struggle the enemies of the park managed not to include the areas in the vicinity of villages in Zapadn’a, Velika Gomolsha, Verhniy Bishkin which are the most valuable ones in terms of nature. Just before the actual creation of the Park Kharkiv Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting used corruption scheme to sell into the private ownership a piece of land where Koropovske forestry was located. Particularly in this picturesque location it was planned to place the administration of the national park. New difficulties waited for the already created Park during the regime of Yanukovych. Local financial princelings threatened the fact of the existence of the protected object and tried to create a hunting territory in its place. This was prevented by the staff of the Park, who had to face layoffs and persecution. But, despite all the problems, the National Park exists, and we hope it will always be this way. The first protected objects appeared in the territory of the Park during the time of Peter I, when here the Protected ship timber grove was approved. Since 1914, scientists of Kharkiv University, headed by Professor V.M. Arnoldi, proposed to reserve this territory because it was inhabited by valuable rare, relict and endemic species of plants and animals. At the beginning of the XX century a part of an ancient forest was reserved. In 1926 a part of the the Severskiy Donets river floodplain - the tract Homutki - was declared a bird sanctuary. Since 1932 Forests of Gomolshanska forest cottage and Floodplain forest Homutki have been protected as natural monuments of national importance. In 1972 it was announced the creation of the landscape reserve of local importance Gomolshanska forest cottage in the territory of 9092 hectares. On this basis current National Park has been created. The National Park was established to preserve typical and unique natural forest-steppe nature complexes of the area of Severskiy Donets river. According to the functional zoning the territory of the National Park is divided into the protected zone of 1022.4 hectares, the area of controlled recreation - 1380.3 ha, stationary recreation - 1100.5 ha and economic zone - 10,811.6 ha. The climate in the territory of the Park is moderately warm with variable humidity. The average air temperature is + 7 ° C, the average temperature in July is + 21,5 ° C, the average annual precipitation - 511 mm. The frost-free period is 155-160 days. With the snow depth of 18-20 cm, the snow covers for about 3 months. The territory of the Park lies on the southern border of the left-bank forest-steppe. There are about 1000 species of vascular plants. The list of rare plants consists of 132 species. In the Park forest vegetation type dominates. On the high right bank of the Severskiy Donets deciduous forests grow - maple, ash-tree, linden oakforests. On the sandy terrace of the left bank of the river pine forests dominate. Oak forests of the National Park are one of the best in the left-bank Ukraine. Here more than 50 hectares of forest 130-150 years old have survived, there are some 200-300-year-old oaks and you can also see the oldest oak in Ukraine, which is almost 600 years old. Here there are about 20 species of amphibians and reptiles. The Park is inhabited by 131 species of birds, most of which are considered rare in Europe. The territory of the Park is inhabited by a number of rare and endangered species of the International Red List and Red Book of Ukraine. One of the problems of the National Park today is the fact that it depends on Kharkiv Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting. This agency is really involved in the destruction of forest areas by clear cuttings and is totally not concerned about the protection of biodiversity. ________________________________________ Green Video Music Just nature and music We invite composers, musicians, sponsors, advertisers, national parks and nature reserves to cooperation.
