Autumnal Equinox speech at the ogbe Ate House, Acalypha Guest House, Omi Okun Ile – Ife, September 23, 2013.by Dr. Samuel Modupeola Opeola, The founder. We have been thrown into the ocean of scientific Revolution through colonization by the Arabs and the peoples of the western world. We are today in the Era of post Colonial history of our development. Our attitude to the colonial experience lacks wisdom, that is sound judgment and sagacity – sagacity here means high intelligence. We often ignore the interference between our culture and the new strange scientific culture. The western people became aware of universal stages of human civilization. In the fossil they saw our culture as equivalent of Stone Age. To them, what we now consider as our culture development does not seem relevant to modern Atomic Age. We did not share the influence of the ancient Greeks whose literature has provided training in logic, a stimulus to the exercise of critical faculties and a wonderful grounding in mathematics, and the physical sciences. It was a western world already steeped in humanism the entered upon a great scientific and technological development. The modern western man has become fully persuaded that he must rely on his own resources (both human and material). To him, religion had come to low ebb, after generations of fanatism, persecution and wars: it is now in a week position, for meeting the challenges of the new thought, the end of the 18th century, saw the decisive moment in the secularization of, not only, the European society and culture, but all human society and culture. Our modern attitude to the capricious behavior of the earth and the universe makes us look more primitive than we ever think we are. We need a decisive action to secularize out society and culture. We have seen enough of prayer meetings offal sacrifices and social carnivals – called conferences and festivals. To turn all our sacred groves and shrines to tourist centers does not make us better than our ancients. We are just selling our birth heritage to foreign organizations for a mere pot of porridge. For example, most of our sacred groves and shrines are under the control of UNESCO. We need to research in the fundamental principles used to develop Orisa traditions and culture which make them withstand the corrosive waves of the western culture. Arithmomancy is the pillar of orisa traditions and cukture. Here is an eye opener given by Gonzales – Wippler, 1989. The first time I consulted a Babalawo And I saw him write down the Odu. I realized that he was looking at a binary system The I and O that the Babalawo used In the Oracle were the same digits Use in computer calculations. Furthermore the Babalawo was using binary code in the same manner as the computer does, a system handed to him through countless years of African religion traditions. How many Babalawos of our present time are aware of this observation, and what have been done to prove the author right?
