Avalanche warning for the Washington Cascades west of the crest and the Olympics above about 4-5000 feet. Several feet of new snow last week and over the weekend is being weakened by the warming and triggering avalanches in the backcountry. Some of these may trigger even bigger avalanches involving the older wet snowpack. Freezing levels could top 13,000 this week so this problem will continue. Also note that closed ski areas are not doing avalanche control so use caution if you are traveling through them to the backcountry. ~Rich
