Avatars of Vishnu Raanana, June 27, 2014 Avatars of Vishnu were we Riding high on multicolored steeds Into galactic battles of the Good War To fanfares of trumpets in Phrygian mode But mostly we just sat around smoking and drinking And saying like cool man wow To the string of bells she taped to the ceiling And lit a match to the bottom of it The bells tinkling on the floor As the flame climbed laboriously up the string Disappearing into the dark ceiling And into the night until death itself Like cool man wow yeah. Now we are avatars of another sort In a virtual reality of a third rate game We meet and yet we dont We speak but not really We kill but it doesnt matter Since its only pixels, And yet there is a loveliness outside of us A life beyond us and an existence after us That springs from my breast Almost like a hope Eternal For now. uncollectedworks.wordpress/yet-another-book-of-poetry/
