Average two bedroom apartment cost in downtown Denver -$2000. Go figure. Gentrification was much more crushing here. The City mayor is Black, and has been, so is the chief of police, and most of those in power positions are also black. But much of the business owners are whites. Wellsfargo and Centurylink headquaters are nestled here too. Lesson for me? Except you work to change the system and institutions it does not matter much who presides over the systems if that person is short on compassion and understanding towards inclusion. The outcome will not change much. But you would have boisterous amount of symbolisms and kumbayas.
