Awareness has tripled since 2010, now find out what consumers know, fear, and want from telematics insurance Lexis-Nexis survey reveals what consumers want from usage-based insurance (UBI). Highlights from the study included: • 73% said it would be easier to adopt a UBI program if it used a smartphone app. • 76% of consumers see telematics as an opportunity to reduce rates and 63% see it as an opportunity to have more control over rates. • 61% are more likely to accept telematics if insurers offer a trial period for three months, while 72% of drivers are more likely if an insurer offers an automatic discount of 10% for the first six months. • One in every three consumers finds the idea appealing and is likely to use a personal smartphone to collect and transmit telematics data.
