Away from the usual politics to solutions for economic empowerment and job creation. I am proposing entrepreneurship as one of the vehicles for reducing unemployment especially among our youth and women. I have proved that entrepreneurship works because that is what I have done all my life. It has not been easy but rewarding. I started out like everybody else, and my late mother made sure she gave me the discipline and work attitude needed in order to succeed as an entrepreneur. If entrepreneurship has worked for GBM, I know that it can work for majority of youths too. One sure way to create jobs for youths in our economy is by prioritizing entrepreneurship. We need to focus on existing and emerging young entrepreneurs in order to create a multiplier effect. Zambia can raise genuine youth entrepreneurs as engines of sustainable economic growth and innovation. Under proper governance and encouraging environment, these youth entrepreneurs can make a pivotal contribution to the socio-economic development Zambia. Once we have created this critical mass of youth entrepreneurs, then borrowing from President John F. Kennedy, we can say to the younger generation of Zambians: “Ask not what Zambia can do for you- but Ask what you can do for Zambia.” I now invite your innovative ideas on what Zambia needs to do in order to transform today’s unemployed youths into a pool of entrepreneurs who are contributing to the economic growth of the country. Your input will not just end here. I will share them with colleagues in Government and the private sector. So let us discuss:
