Awesome news! My poem titled, Vacancy, just got me accepted to this years literary conference for Slice Magazine!!!!!! Huge deal as only a few writers are selected based on their work, I get to meet some amazing publishing agents and mingle with people in the field! Here is the poem: “Vacancy” They scintillate from your eyes like early tomorrows. we lie flat while we melt like amorphous streams of salt In a moment, when we stood on India st. thinking, ‘How an Indian wound up here was anything short of comedic non-fiction.’ Realizing tomorrow comes and we are in a new home of us. Drinking and dreaming of last-ditch-efforts to put off dishes and chase the evening mood & make for many more moons and afternoons; In Brooklyn. The land that speaks and it says like love: ‘I cannot be owned.’ Therein the people, therein they live, therein they love and pray to one god above And they crowd in together dressed for December and they hold up a flag that sows the words: “unity makes for strength” And to keep your iron towers! You can have it! But you cannot bugify the heart! Or count your money in the stardust. So long as a song sings along for the living! So long as June sings a tune for the breathing! Honeyed with hallelujahs and a thousand mellifluous Om’s— Vibing, benevolent, and radiant. I love you, like Brooklyn. I love you— like my own."
