Awesome turnout for the Clean up Fredericton day held on April 27 starting at noon at the Crowne Plaza Fredericton. Approximately 100 helped out, including members of the public, 45 military personnel in uniform, folks from the Fredericton Trails Coalition, Fredericton Geocaching group, and youth from Fredericton High School. Ten small children participated in the cleanupfred scavenger hunt. Over 140 bags of garbage were collected. The areas covered included: Carlton Park, Queens Square (and streets surrounding), Wilmot Park, Odell Park, behind the library, trails from the Crowne Plaza across the trail bridge and through Devon got done. The Rugby Club and surrounding area, downtown streets and sidewalks, Rabbit Town, all around the Train Station, Regent Street from Crowne up to Saunders, as well as Prospect Street near the Regent Street intersection. #cleanupfred14 was presented by Green Matters, the Crowne Plaza Fredericton and The New Hot 92.3 radio station. Fredericton is a big city ... help make every day cleanupfred day ... put litter in its place! Mother Nature will thank you.
