Awhile back I mentioned in a post that when building my custom strings I heat them with a blow dryer! Its nothing that special. Once I have the string, CC, BC etc under full tension on the stretcher (unserved at this point). I begin heating the material with the blow dryer! This causes the existing wax already in the material to come to the surface. As this occurs the material will shape itself into a smooth round form. When you use a string fiber or leather etc that can cause bleed over of the colors. With this process that does not occur and the finish is shiny and uniformly round. DO NOT OVER HEAT THE MATERIAL! Now once thats done if there is any stretch in the string will be found at this point. Tighten on stretcher until desired length is achieved the serve normally . You will notice the servings will be tighter cause the material will be slightly tacky. If you wait for the material to cool before serving run the blow dryer over the finished servings and the wax will come to the top and form a tighter grip on the string!
