Aww, durn, folks. Im sorry to be the bluebird of doom. But this is about the worst thing Ive heard in weeks. Its not enough that schools comply with federal regulations for IEP compliance. Arne now wants to make sure special ed students test scores are going up, up, up, and will now tie special ed funding to improvement. I must say this SOUNDS like decent rhetoric. (Whos going to say they want special ed kids to get no resources and a bad education?) But if it bears any resemblance to what these crooks have already accomplished with general ed kids, I am filled with sorrow. Time to let him know this plan is not likely to work. Special ed advocates and teachers, lets respond quick and loud. And if Im wrong about this--and I am totally open to this possibility!--please educate me. Tell me how this is good.
