Awwww Royal baby number 2 We hope you feel better soon Kate, Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is horrendous. HG is still very misunderstood it is NOT morning sickness. Hyperemesis gravidarum is a debilitating pregnancy condition that can last for the duration of the pregnancy and most often the expecting mother requires hospital admissions and on going treatment until the baby is born. Some community health groups such as areas of Cornwall are able to treat HG mothers in their own homes which is fantastic. Plymouth has just seen the closure of their Pioneering Midwife led Acupuncture service which treated hundreds of women over the years suffering from HG, SPD, Reflux. Exhaustion, PND and Pain management for labouring women. A devastating loss. Especially as this was the first of its kind and has now been rolled out to other areas of the UK and Europe. HG sufferers need support and understanding from friends and family and especially by their employers. Most HG mothers are unable to work. It can be a very worrying time.
