Axel Joseph wants to follow in his dad foot steps. Axel Rasheed Cheney Joseph believes he will one day represent Grenada at all levels in football. Joseph who secured a soccer and athletic scholarship to attend Tiffin University recently graduated from Sheepshead Bay High School in New York and is currently preparing for his freshman year at the Ohio institution. Joseph first interest in the sport was as early as four years, where he was for the next two and half years part of the First Touch Soccer Academy, a soccer school which was established by his dad Cheney Joseph, himself a former national player and coach for Grenada. Joseph was awarded 2013 player of the year for his high school and made the All Star selection in that year. Unlike his dad, he has chosen to play in a defensive position preferring the defensive midfield and right back positions. The younger Joseph admires Germanys Phillip Lahm and Kyle Walker of England. he however wants to make his own name for himself and is determined to do so in the next few years. The 59 weighing 165lbs. was also hopeful of representing the national youth team currently in Aruba, but arrived too late to participate in team training. He like Hamid Mark wish the national youth team well in their very important game tonight against Aruba. A win tonight will see our Spice Boyz qualify for the CFU finals in September in Trinidad.
