Ayers Rock is a natural wonder of the world. For a miniscule fragment of its natural history, a group of anthropoid apes developed a religious affectation for it. They believed it had magical properties. They were wrong. Nevertheless, they recruited a lot of uninspired Westerners to join them in the racist cause of preventing people from interacting with this glorious geological monument: born in magma, lifted to the crust, shaved into powder by a billion years of wind, gathered by a river, all before backbones had even evolved. Lifted by moving continents, Uluru saw the dinosars evolve and die out. It has been known to humans for 0.1% of its time in existence. What a trivial species we are.
