Ayman Mohyeldin: The BBC has written a piece cautioning about the accuracy of the death toll in Gaza (which is a very valid editorial pursuit), and while doing so they quote an Israeli military spokesman who gives his reason as to why the death toll is inaccurate. But the BBC and its head of statistics didnt quote any Palestinian health official who could perhaps present an alternative explanation. With all due respect to the BBC (and its respected and fearless journalist I worked alongside in Gaza), I am really curious to know: did the BBC not try to get a quote? Maybe they did but they didnt think the quote was editorially worthy of mentioning in the article or is it simply the BBC couldnt get access to the dozens of Palestinian health officials and/or Hamas officials speaking almost hourly in Gaza.
