In 1964, before it was known that there would be a need to deploy B-52’s into the SEA theater, the “F” model BUFF’s were chosen to receive enhanced conventional bombing capabilities. It was obvious early on that her pylons could be easily converted to enable suspension beams and ejector racks needed for “iron bomb” usage. ’57-0034 was sent to MASDC Sept 5, 1878 and subsequently scrapped in March 1994.
