B-E-L-I-Z-E As announced in church, Belize is ON for Sunday March 8th 2015 to Sunday March 15th. We will be working in the western region of Belize in the small town of Benque Viejo in the Cayo District. As a team we will be working along side volunteers and members of the church’s missionary society on their dental mission trip. Additionally we will be doing mural artwork, landscaping, clean up, eye screening assistance, student programing, possible dry walling and various construction assignments. On Thursday we will be traveling to the eastern part of Belize and the island of Caye Caulker. Our two full days there will be low key and relaxing until Sunday. Our work will not just be in Belize; fundraising will begin THIS semester after fall break. EVERYONE going will be expected to participate in ALL fundraising events. Events will be selling the church parking lot during Altria Theatre shows, Shrimp & Grits Mardi Gras Night in February, and a handful of others like bake sales and selling volunteer hours to parishioners. What you need to do: TALK! Talk about going with your parents, other Campus Ministry students, interns and Michael. There are several links below of where we are staying near Benque called Clarissa Falls. PASSPORTS! If you do not have a passport, look into getting one NOW. Facebook me directly if you need help getting started. Talk to Michael if you need some financial help purchasing it as well. It’s about $135.00. Links below address buying a passport book from the State Dept. (you don’t need the card) DEADLINES! A lot of planning goes into this trip and knowing numbers early allows us to book the best prices. The signup period for going will be October 1 thru November 1. Everyone going must physically sign up at the church & that sign up will be available at Sunday worship, WNFT & Explore your faith. It will be in Michaels office any other time. Once the tickets are bought in November/December after that and you have to back out, you WILL be charged the airline ticket cancellation fee. Please see me if you have any questions about signing up. FUNDING! While this trip is heavily fundraised by Campus Ministry the Diocese, and our fundraising events, we ask those going to pay a small portion towards the trip. Each student going is asked to pay $250.00 towards the trip. The first payment will be due in January of $125 and the other at the end of February. Please see Michael if you need help with a trip scholarship. Food in Belize, hotels, excursions and transportation will be covered; souvenirs and miscellaneous items are not. This is going to be an AWESOME trip and we are doing a lot of good in this world. All the interns hope you can come and we are excited to be going! Thank you all again and for being flexible with all the paperwork and planning. BUNEO!
