B Grade Premiers 2014 Tungamah 45 defeated Waaia 38 This was it, our last game of the season was upon us, we had defied the odds and gone from third straight into the grand final. The scene was set, a massive crowd had gathered at our home courts for a cracking game of netball, the winner was always going to be the side who found composure first and wanted it more. The starting lineup Sarah, Brydee, Sal, Paige, Dan, Sharelle and Narelle left nothing to chance. We started fiercely, our drives were strong, our passing accurate, our pressure over the ball was intense. We rebounded strongly, chased hard and our confidence grew. There was never more than 4 goals the difference but it was always the Bears with their noses in front. We went into the half time break with a slight lead and opted to inject fresh legs into the game for the second half. Tan, Jen, Mariah and Sharn all took to the court. Waaia came out hard in the third quarter closing the gap and getting out to a two goal lead. But our girls didnt give up and clawed the way back to ensure we had the slight upper hand going into the last. The three quarter time message was clear - go hard, fight for everything, treasure the possession and girls have fun! What a final quarter we had. Everything simply clicked Tan and Jen were unstoppable in defence rebounding, blocking and intercepting ensuring the Waaia shooters had minimal opportunities to score. Mariah opened up the court coming out of defence with strong attacking drives. Paige and Sal continued to dodge and weave in the attack end and fed the ball well to our shooters. Young guns Brydee and Sarah kept cool calm heads, held strong, moved swiftly and scored goals with ease. Within the first 7 minutes wed stretched our lead to 10 and you could feel the energy and excitement on court grow. At the final whistle the celebrations started we did it, premiers, in a convincing 7 goal victory!! A massive thank-you to everybody that helped B Grade out during the year, friends and family who scored, time kept, wore the first aid shirt and supported us week in and out. To everyone who umpired us thank-you. To the A Grade girls that filled in earlier in the season, that provided guidance to our youngsters and who made up numbers at training for us thank-you. To the club and committee youve had yet another fantastic season and you really put on a spectacle for the Grand Final it truly was a fabulous venue and a brilliant day. Lastly to my team of stars - I am so proud of each and every one of you. We came such a long way from the beginning of the year, to gel the way we did for some of you in your first season of senior netball is no easy feat. It has been my pleasure coaching you and playing alongside you all. Well done girls you all deserve this! #BGradePremiers2014
